Due to an incident that just happened, I feel that I may need to clarify what your role as a representative of your class is.
First, here is a definition of what "to represent" means
To Represent: to act for or in behalf of (a constituency, state, etc.) by deputed right in exercising a voice in legislation or government:
This means that you are a *stand-in* for the rest of your class. You do not hold authority over your class, you do not make decisions for them, you are there to voice THEIR opinions, THEIR concerns, THEIR suggestions. If I could I would invite the entire class to student council- but that is not how it works. They picked you because they feel you are a responsible individual that will get their needs and wants across to student government and up onto the adults of the school where change can be made.
Please keep this in mind when you talk to your fellow classmates. Listen to them, take notes, remember what they say. You are their voice, not an authority over them.
